Are you available by email? |
|
Yes. All of our attorneys and staff communicate by e-mail. Our experience is that e-mail is a very efficient means of communication. As an added bonus, e-mail tends to be very environmentally friendly. In addition, we prefer documents to be scanned and e-mailed to us for review, rather than faxed.
In all events, however, you should use caution when communicating confidential or privileged information via e-mail because of the possibility that an unintended recipient will see the contents. Despite all of the protections we implement, that possibility always exists. |

What will I need to bring when I meet with you? |
|
Generally, your attorney will instruct you on what you need to bring to the first meeting. If you are meeting with one of the estate planning attorneys, you will be provided with a Personal Information Form that you should complete prior to the first meeting. In other cases, unless instructed otherwise, plan on bringing anything that can be considered relevant. In particular, bring any letters you received from the IRS, creditors, other attorneys or any one else that seems important. If you are not sure, bring it. |

What can I expect at my first appointment with one of your attorneys? |
|
At your first appointment, you can expect to spend a considerable amount of time explaining your situation to one of our attorneys. Our attorneys will review documents that you bring and ask you many questions in order to gather the necessary information to provide you with a practical solution to your particular problem. Depending on the type of engagement, you may need to meet with the attorneys and staff on subsequent occasions. Further, complex problems often require the attorneys to spend additional time after your first meeting conducting legal research and analysis to find the best solution to your problems. You should plan to bring all relevant information, tax returns, notices and other documentation with you to the first meeting. |

How do you bill attorney fees? |
|
Our fees vary depending on the type of representation needed and the complexity of the issues. Generally, we charge either hourly rates or fixed fees. Each fee arrangement is determined on a case-by-case basis and is discussed with you prior to your incurring any fees. We enter into written engagement letters and fee agreements with all of our clients prior to beginning any work. We feel that by discussing all of the terms of the engagement up front, we can work together with them in partnership and eliminate any misunderstandings that could arise during the course of the representation.
Whether your fees are hourly or fixed, you can fully expect to receive value for your investment in our services. |

How do I know if I need an attorney? |
|
If you are not sure, then you probably do need an attorney. If you feel that you have a legal or tax problem that is beyond your understanding, you should contact an attorney. If you receive a letter from the IRS, a creditor, a collection agency or a lawyer, you should contact us immediately, because you need an attorney. If you are entering into a business transaction or other arrangement and the other parties have an attorney, you are always better served having your own attorney to look out for your best interests. |
